Portland Timbers coach John Spencer says it's now or never for his eighth-place club to make a move. He says Saturday's MLS match against Toronto FC is the game of the year.

"It's bigger than opening game of the season," Spencer told The Oregonian newspaper of Portland. "You can't duck away from the fact that the games are ticking down. Whether it be at home or on the road, we need to win games. (The players) know that."

The Timbers are 6-10-3 but not out of the Western Conference playoff race just yet,. Still, the club is desperate for a win Saturday and then on Aug. 3 when it visits the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The month of August "is make or break," goalkeeper Troy Perkins told the newspaper. "We have seven games in August (and) at the end of that month, we're going to find out where we are at. If we don't win the majority of those games, we're going to be in a really bad spot."
