When using your E.M.F. detector I've found it helpful to do a room or area sweep with the lights on first. That way you can see where electricity is playing a part in the readings. Once you know where the electrical hot-spots are you can save time when the lights are out.

Also this helps to get a base reading for that area, so your reading isn't a suprise when you enter it.

Yeah, we've even used colored post its to tag some of the areas of high readings for the other investigators. During an investigation it was easy to determine if it was something paranormal or the result of a near by electrical box.

its great that you do the EMFs with the lights on, until now i thought we were the only group to do that...(i've asked around to other groups and no one told me they didn't that)... it does make it easier...
