Wilson - Evans could go cheap
Manager Danny Wilson says Sheffield United may have to accept a cut-price offer for striker Ched Evans.
The Welsh hitman has struggled to make an impact at Bramall Lane since arriving in a £3million deal from Manchester City two summers ago.
The Blades are keen to reduce their wage bill following their relegation to League One at the end of last season and Evans is among the players they are looking to offload, even if it is on the cheap.
Norwich, Ipswich, Middlesbrough and Leicester are thought to be interested in the 22-year-old, but United are yet to receive any official bids.
Wilson told the Yorkshire Post: "Ched wants to move on and wants a new challenge.
"We need him off our wage bill - so it may be a case of having to let him go at less than his market value.
"It would be a positive if it happens quickly but I cannot put a timescale on it. It all depends when potentially interested clubs want to make their move."
Interest
The Blades have already parted ways with Darius Henderson and Mark Yeates this summer as they look to lighten their wage bill.
Nick Montgomery and Stephen Quinn have also been linked with moves away from the club, with Leeds thought to be preparing offers for both, but Wilson says they are yet to receive any enquiries.
Wilson added: "As yet there have been no enquiries for either player. They are in League One for a reason and they have to knuckle down for the challenge that lies ahead next season.
"To be fair to both lads their attitude in pre-season has been spot on.
"They have shown total commitment to the cause and have made it clear by the way they have gone about training that they will put everything into it if they are still with us at the start of the season."
