Dundee United midfielder Scott Severin has undergone surgery after suffering a triple leg break against St Mirren.
Severin came off after only six minutes of the 1-1 draw.
United manager Peter Houston confirmed to BBC Scotland that the 32-year-old has broken his fibia and tibia, as well as tearing ligaments.
"He's getting on in years, so it looks like Scott will be out for quite a long time," he said. "But he's a strong character. Hopefully he gets back."

I'd certainly like to bring another player in, I need another striker

United fell behind to a Steven Thompson goal but drew level after the break when Jon Daly struck.
"We can't turn up like we did in the first half," said Houston. "Our tempo was far too low. I criticised the players at half-time about that.
"We did have chances in the first half. Keith Watson has a tap-in and he should've scored.
"Tempo in the second half was magnificent.
"We should've gone on and won the game. We had plenty of chances to win it."
United this week sold David Goodwillie after a long protracted transfer for the striker was completed.
The Tangerines are hopeful of bringing left-sided player Gavin Gunning to Tannadice and Houston is also keen to bring in a striker.
"I need to speak to the chairman because money's tight," added Houston.
"I'd certainly like to bring another player in, I need another striker because going with Johnny Russell and Jon Daly's not enough because the younger ones aren't ready yet."
