Re: Finally got here!
Hey Aaron, welcome to our boards!
I just read your response on the TAPs forums. I had heard about a few of the "haunted tours" in Chicago, but I never really looked into them all that much. Are they pretty interesting? I'd imagine it'd be somewhat like a history lesson of a certain place of places with personal testimonies.
What exactly is Excalibur Nightclub? I'm not sure! I'd have to learn a little more about it I think. Thanks for asking!

eh, they are not all they are cracked up to be. I don't even waste my time with them
Excalibur...
Supposedly the most haunted location in Chicago. It served as a temporary morgue back in the 20's I think for some sort of epidemic.
http://www.excaliburchicago.com/
Address: 632 N. Dearborn St.
Year Built: 1892
Architect: Henry Ives Cobb
Date Designated a Chicago Landmark: February 26, 1997
One of the city's few remaining and best examples of Romanesque Revival architecture, this monumental, picturesque-style structure was designed by one of the era's most successful architects. It is generally considered one of Cobb's finest works. The Chicago Historical Society occupied the building from the 1890s until 1931; it was that organization's need for a fireproof structure that accounts for the structure's granite-clad construction. The building's later uses included the prestigious Institute of Design and recording studios for influential blues and rock n' roll performers in the 1950s and ‘60s.
The forms of the Romanesque Revival actually derive from the 11th and 12-century architecture of France and Spain, although the style enjoyed a resurgence in the 1880s due to the work of architect H. H. Richardson. It was used for many building types, including houses, clubs, and commercial buildings, before its popularity ended in the late 1890s. Examples can be found in many community areas, including Douglas, Grand Boulevard, and Kenwood.
Common characteristics are:
heavy, rough-cut stone walls
round arches and squat columns
deeply recessed windows
pressed metal bays and turrets.
I work in the entertainment industry so I have alot of contacts that can get me into places like this. Some friends also have worked their past and present and report weird things happening all the time.

Re: Finally got here!
Sounds like a unique and interesting building. Ah, I see. So, currently, Excalibur is a club then. Crazy how such a historical building can undergo so many changes. You're trying to organize an investigation there then? I'd imagine you aren't planning on going there to club? ha Maybe have a few dances with a couple ghostie girls??

Re: Finally got here!
Yeah, that could be a possibility for us, I think. I still would like to organize a practice investigation for us sometime after I meet with everyone (we're meeting most everyone this Saturday, so I'll have to schedule something for the remaining people.) Mainly, we just need to go over investigation protocol and make sure everyone knows what they're doing and how to use the equipment and whatnot before we actually jump right in. I think it'd help the team in general just kind of get warmed up.
After our practice investigation takes place though (that's still way under development though, as I'm not sure where we can do it at the moment), I think we could be open do doing something like this, if you'd like us to come.
lol! DJing it? That definitely would be one of the more unique investigations I've heard of!

Re: Finally got here!
well role with what you think is best for your group, this is something I think is gonna take some time to get organized on my end to begin with. I still have to hear back if we have approval or not to get in there. It does help that I know the owners daughter though
Re: Finally got here!
btw Jeanette and team (when the rest of your team gets there), i've added you to our *secret* section of our forums this way if we are working together on investigations and what not you can post your stuff there.
Re: Finally got here!
