Villisca Axe Murder House Empty Villisca Axe Murder House

Post by Aesalon Wed Apr 09, 2008 1:45 pm

June 9th 1912 in Villisca Iowa 8 people (6 children) were murdered in their sleep, the crime has never been solved. - if any place SHOULD be haunted, this is it.

I know that it's too far out of the way for you Chicago folks to visit - but if you ever reach that point where you can expand your range, it is a good locale to keep in mind. The current owner began restoration in the mid 90's and has since opened the house up for overnight investigations (Leased of course)

Villisca House Info.

I've been through on a daytime tour, and I didn't feel comfortable in the house at all (though with that, you never know if something is actually opressing you, or if you are just reacting to the history.)

That sounds like a really creepy place. You're right - if any place should be haunted, that seems like a likely spot. Seems like they even have their own evidence, like EVPs.

Actually, before Tony and I moved to the Chicago area, I lived on the border of Iowa and Illinois and Tony lived on the Iowa side. I used to cross the bridge into Iowa everyday to see him. We would have been a lot closer then than we are now. Thanks for sharing that! We will need to have that place in mind if ever we do expand more and explore places beyond what's here locally.

I grew up in southern Iowa not far from there, i'm actually going to be trying to go with one of the groups we went to waverly with, towards the end of the summer. I've heard it's an EVP hot-bed!

I believe those are PRISM's EVP's - (Out of Omaha - I have not met them, but everyone I talk to says that they do great work.)

I'm guessing for an o'ernighter? One of the groups out of KC has been there a bunch, and I was listening to some of their Villisca files and it's just crazy stuff - I think we are going to try and schedule a Friday night next year, I have not ever read about a group that went and didn't experience something.

I have met some of the PRISM folks, they are awesome, although some of their evidence was a little iffy, but they have different sub-groups i think, so it could have just been those folks.

Well I'm sold on this place. I would LOVE to get a chance to investigate this place. Maybe we could do a big summer trip and send the team out there do an all nighter and see what we get. Hopefully by then we can get enough members then the money wouldn't be an issue.

Everclash i think you mean the K2 meter, tell you what....if you actually know how they work, its not all that impressive, but a lot of groups are using them, if you know how to use them properly they are a decent and inexpensive piece of equipment, just make sure you replace the push button switch with a hard switch!!!

Yep - that was MY FAVORITE episode! Very Happy (Kevin said it was a K2 meter, which is right. Basically, looking at the two - EMF and K2 - the difference between them is that the K2 has little lights that will light up, while the EMF has digital numbers that fluctuate.) Really, you could use either to communicate with though - you would just have to ask different questions. Instead of "make 2 lights light up," for the K2, using an EMF meter, you could ask, "make this reach 5.0"

Yeah, me too. This place seems amazing. AND, being that EVPs seem so common here, and me being an EVP Specialist, I would absolutely love investigating there. Capturing voices on tape is my favorite. I love it! I would very much like to acquire some new EVPs too in the near future. It's so fascinating hearing them respond to you. Just thinking about it -- you're actually communicating with the dead!

If you pull it together and need one or two, lemme know. (It's only about an hour drive for me.) Very Happy

Ok Jeannette.....the REAL difference between an EMF and a K2 is that an emf meter detects the emf's around it using a coil that picks up the fluctuations, a K2 emits its own itty bitty teeny weeny emf field, and detects a fluctuation in its own field, so you ask the entity to manipulate the field. It's kindof like radar or sonar, it puts out a 'ping' and if it comes back normal, the reading is normal, but if there is any sort of interference, it calculates the amount of interference into a measurement. I will admit though, they are kindof cool looking!!!

Oh, Kevin - I was just going to leave the technical explanation of the two up to someone else. haha, I wasn't meaning to describe how it works! I was merely just stating how each of them LOOKED. Laughing

That's a good explanation though. I have a hard time keeping all of the complete technicalities straight with all of this equipment, so thanks for explaining it in those terms. Smile
